Kopistenski, Zacharias

Kopistenski, Zacharias, a Russian theologian, flourished in the beginning of the 17th century as archimandrite of the convent of St. Anthony at Kief. and died there April 18, 1626. He translated into Slavonic the commentary of St. Chrysostom on the Acts and Paul's epistles (Kief, 1623 and 1624, folio). He also published a Funeral Sermon, in which he seeks to prove that the doctrine of Purgatory is sanctioned by apostolic authority; and a Nomacanon, or review of the canons (Kief, 1624 and 1629; Moscow, 1639; Lemberg, 1646).Hoefer, Nouv.
