Hugo

Hugo a friar of the order of the Minimi, and a doctor of theology, was born at Prato, near Florence, in the latter half of the 13th century. He was a man of remarkable austerity, and imposed upon himself the most severe mortifications. He died in Tartary after the year 1312. Among his works, which remain in MS., are a letter to the Minimi of Prato, a treatise De Vita Contenmplatica, and De Perfectione Statuum. — Hoefer, Nouv. Biogr. Géneralé, 25, 451.
