Hess, Michael

Hess, Michael a Jewish rabbi, brother of Mendel, was born April 9, 1782. He studied at Fiirth and Frankfort, and was professor of the Jewish high-school at the latter place from 1806 to 1855. Hess died February 26, 1860. Like his brother, he belonged to the reform party among the Jews. He published, Freimuthige Prufung der Schrift des Herrn Ruhs uber die Anspruche der Juden an das deutsche Burgerrecht (Frankfort, 1816): — Programmi uber den Religionsunterricht in der Schule der israelit.
