Grimaldi, Geronimo

Grimaldi, Geronimo a Genoese statesman and prelate, occupied. the principal offices of the republic, and accomplished several diplomatic missions with success. After the death of his wife, he entered into the ministry, and easily attained the first dignities of the Church. He was made cardinal, with the title of St. Georges-in-Velatro. He obtained afterwards the archbishopric of Bari, and then that of Genoa, where he died in 1543. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
