Giovanni Di Matteo

Giovanni Di Matteo (or Matteo di Giovanni), an eminent Sienese painter, flourished from 1450 to 1491. He painted first in his native city in fresco. His masterpiece was the Murder of the Innocents, a subject which he repeated both at Siena and at Naples. Some of his paintings are still to be found in the collections of noble houses at Siena.
