Gervais

Gervais prior of St. Generic, in the diocese of Mans, and a French historian, lived in the 13th century. All that is known of him is that, at the request of Robert of Thorigny, who became abbot of Mont St. Michel, he wrote a History of the Counts of Anjou and of Mainze. After: remaining for a long time unpublished, it was inserted in the Recuzeil des Historiens de la France, 12:532, from a manuscript in the Imperial Library, belonging to the monastery of St. Victor. Gervais de St. Generic is often confounded with Gervaise of Canterbury. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
