Gangauf, Theodor

Gangauf, Theodor a Roman Catholic theologian of Germany, was born November 1, 1809, at Bergen. In 1833 he received holy orders, in 1836 joined the Benedictines at Augsburg, was in 1842 professor of philosophy and philology at the Augsburg Lyceum, in 1848 rector of the same, and died September 15, 1875. He was a follower of Gunther's philosophical system, and wrote, Dis Metaphysische Psychologie des heil. Augustin (1844-47) Augustin's Principien uber das Verhaltniss von Glauben und Wissen (1851): — Augustin's Lehre von Gott dem Dreieinigen (1865). (B.P.)
