Fledgling

Fledgling would be a proper rendering for גּוֹזָל gozal' (so called from its peeping; the Arab. and Syr. use essentially the same word in, the sense of nestling), a "young" bird, a. g. of the dove [squab], or pigeon (Ge 15:9), or eagle [eaglet] (De 32:11. The' Greek corresponding term is νεοσσός ("young" pigeon, Luke ii, 24). . SEE BIRD.
