Erkiglit

Erkiglit in Greenland mythology, are the spirits of war, living on the east side of the country, cruel, and enemies of man. They are represented as large men with animal heads. Probably this superstition came from an ancient tradition, which gives to the northern coast of Greenland very warlike inhabitants, who sometimes pressed to all parts of the island in plundering and devastating expeditions, and destroyed all living beings.
