Daladai

Daladai the left canine tooth of Buddha, the most celebrated relic in the possession of his followers. To preserve this, the only portion which remains of the body of the holy sage, a temple has been erected, in which it is deposited, being placed in a small chamber, enshrined in six cases, the largest of them being upwards of five feet in height, and formed of silver, on the model of a dagoba (q.v.). The same shape is preserved in the five inner ones, two of them being inlaid with rubies and other precious stones. The relic itself "is a piece of discolored ivory or bone, slightly curved, nearly two inches in length, and one in diameter at the base; and from thence to the other extremity, which is rounded and blunt, it considerably decreases in size."
