Crisp, Thomas S., D.D.

an English Baptist minister, was born at Beccles, Suffolk, in 1788. He received his education in an Independent college and in one of the Scotch universities; became teacher in the Baptist College, Bristol; in 1818 was associated with Reverend Dr. Ryland as pastor there; and upon the death of the latter was elected president of the college. He died at Cotham, Bristol, June 16, 1868. His scholarship is said to have been of a superior character, although he was singularly diffident.
