Coston, Zara Hale

Coston, Zara Hale a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born at Litchfield, Herkimer County, N.Y., August 6, 1793. He experienced conversion at the age of seventeen; was licensed to preach in 1820, and admitted into the Ohio Conference. In 1829 he was transferred to the Pittsburgh Conference, and in it served the Church as health permitted, until 1858, when he became superannuated, and continued to sustain that relation to the close of his life, June 3, 1874. Mr. Coston was amiable, a universal favorite, generous to a fault, and a preacher of ordinary abilities. See Minutes of Annual Conferences, 1875, page 35; Simpson, Cyclop. of Methodism, s.v.
