Colbert De Seignelay

Colbert De Seignelay a French prelate anid statesman, was born in 1736 at Castle Hill, in Scotland, the original seat of the Colbert family. Being sent while young to France, he embraced the ecclesiastical calling, shortly after obtained the abbeys of Val-Richer and Soreze, and became vicar-general of Toulouse at the age of twenty-six. He was appointed, in 1781, bishop of Rode, and held various important positions in the ecclesiastical affairs of his time. Colbert joined great knowledge with sincere piety and pure morals.
