Chiappe, Battisa

Chiappe, Battisa an Italian painter, was born at Novi, near Genoa, in 1723; studied at Rome, and afterwards settled at Milan, where he painted a number of pictures for the churches. His best work is in the church of San Ignacio, representing that saint with a glory of angels. He died in 1765, in the midst of a successful career.
