Chandler, John

Chandler, John an English clergyman and poet, was born at Witley, in Surrey, June 16,1806. He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford, in 1827; became vicar of Witley in 1837, afterwards rural dean, and died at Putney, July 1, 1876. Besides some prose productions, he published translations called Hymns of the Primitive Church (1837), of which several have been inserted in most hymnals..
