Capnomancy

Capnomancy (from καπνός, snzoke,.and μαντεία, divination) is a species of divination employed by the ancient heathen in their sacrifices. If the smoke was thin and light, and went straight upwards, the omen was favorable; but if the smoke was thick and dark, and rested like a cloud over the fire, the omen was unfavorable.
