Canuti, Domenico Maria

Canuti, Domenico Maria, an Italian painter, was born at Bologna in 1620, and studied under Guido. He was employed on many fine works at Padua, Bologna, and Rome. In the church of the Olivetans, at Bologna, is an extraordinary picture by him of The Taking Down from the Cross, and a picture of Thee Virgin and Saints, in San Bernardino. He died in 1684.
