Brown, Samuel Henry

Brown, Samuel Henry a Presbyterian minister,. was born in Virginia. He was the youngest son of Reverend J.B. Brown, D.D., of Charleston, Virginia. After receiving a preparatory education at home, Samuel was sent to, Washington College, where he graduated in 1849. After teaching two years in a classical academy he entered Princeton Theological Seminary, where he remained, until 1851, when, his health failing, he returned to Charleston and completed his theological course under the tuition of his father, and was licensed to preach by the Greenbrier Presbytery. He took a tour: in the bounds of the Presbytery, visiting its vacant churches and mission-fields. He was called to supply the Church of New Providence, in the Lexington Presbytery, and in 1855. he was ordained and installed pastor of the united congregations of Frankford, Spring Creek and Anthony Creek, where he labored with great efficiency and success: until his death at Frankford, August 1, 1857.
