Bloomfield, Samuel Thomas, Dd

Bloomfield, Samuel Thomas, D.D., an English divine and eminent scholar and critic, was born in 1790, and educated at Sidney College, Cambridge. He took holy orders, and was presented to the vicarage of Bisbrook, Rutland, which he retained until his death, at Wandsworth Common, Sept. 28, 1869. He published, Recensio Synoptica Annotationis Sacrce, exegetical, critical, and doctrinal annotations on the New Testament (1826, 8 vols. 8vo): — A Greek and English Lexicon to the New Testament, revised and enlarged from Dr. Robinson's (1829): — A Translation of Thucydides (eod. 3 vols.): — The Greek Testament, with English Notes, Critical, Philological, etc. (1832, 2 vols., often reprinted): — and other works.
