Beor

Be'or (Heb. Beor', בּעוֹר, a torch; Sept. Βεώρ), the name of two men. SEE BALAAM.

1. The father of Bela (q.v.), one of the kings of Edom (Ge 36:32; 1Ch 1:43). B.C. apparently ante 1618.

2. The father of Balaam, the backsliding prophet (Nu 22:5; Nu 24:3,15; Nu 31:8; Jos 13:22; Jos 24:9; Mic 6:5; De 23:4). In 2Pe 2:15, he is called BOSOR SEE BOSOR (q.v.). B.C. ante 1618.
