Amalteo, Pomponio

Amalteo, Pomponio an Italian painter of the Venetian school, was born at San Vito, in Friuli, in 1505. He was a pupil of Pordenone, whose style he closely imitated. His works consist chiefly of frescos and altar-pieces, and many of them have suffered greatly from the ravages of time. He died in the year 1584.
