Alexis, Guillaume

Alexis, Guillaume, a learned French Benedictine who lived near the close of the 15th century and at the commencement of the 16th. He was surnamed the good monk of the Abbey of Lyre, in the diocese of Evreux, and became prior of Bussy in Perche. He is supposed to have died in 1486, though the precise dates of his birth and death are unknown. Alexis made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, and there fell a victim to the persecution of the Turks.
