Alde, Jean Baptiste

Alde, Jean Baptiste, a French Jesuit, was born at Paris, Feb. 1, 1674. He was secretary of P. le Tellier, and director of the Congregation of Artisans. He died Aug. 18,1743. He wrote, Description de la Chine et de la Tartarie Chinoise, and some letters in the collection of Lettres Edifiantes. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
