Adrian, St (3)

Adrian, ST. (3), was an officer in the imperial army (cir. 307) at Nicomedia. Shocked at the cruelties practiced upon the Christians of that city by Licinius, he remonstrated with him upon his conduct. The only effect of this was that he himself was tortured, and afterwards beheaded. His memory is commemorated in the Roman martyrologies on Aug. 26 or Sept. 8, in- the Greek )n Nov. 6.
